In all honesty, we are starting to get cabin fever too. But to prevent the coronavirus from spreading further, we are trying to stay home as much as possible and avoid contact with other people. Nevertheless, some of us are almost out of ideas for what else we can do. We’ve got a few tips for you to help keep boredom at bay in lockdown and to make the most of all this time we’ve all got on our hands!
10 tips to combat boredom
Clean and organize your shoes
How many shoes do you have in your closet? No idea? Then it’s high time you got a clear picture – after all, those gorgeous summer shoes will be back in action soon. But there’s more to it than that, because some of your little babies may need a little TLC from you too. Cleaning your shoes will not only help you see what shoes you still have around the house, but it will also extend the life of your most cherished pairs. That’s a promise. We also have a few tips on this for you here.
Plan your next trip
It’s impossible to travel at all right now, and things will probably stay that way for a while. But there’s nothing to stop you from thinking about where you’re going to visit next. Where have you always wanted to go? Start planning the places you’d like to visit and the sights you’d like to see now. You’ll never have more time to do it than you do have right now.
Do some gardening or grow plants on your balcony
It is no surprise that home improvement stores aren’t struggling with a lack of sales at the moment. After all, now that we’re all going to be home for such a long time, people are keen to spruce up their homes and gardens. If you have a garden or a balcony, there is no reason why you shouldn’t make it beautiful. Many of the things you need can also be ordered online, so you don’t even have to leave the house. Watch out though – if you’re not used to gardening, you could end up with a blister or sore patches. Use 2SKIN before you start and nothing should go wrong 😉 Simply apply the invisible anti-chafing gel to those areas of skin that are likely to rub and you’ll be protected.
Have a pamper day
In previous blog posts, we shared some tips for well-groomed feet with you, as well as skincare tips. So how about giving yourself a home pamper day? A manicure, a pedicure, an exfoliating scrub, a hot bath – now is precisely the time to really kick back and relax.
Do the spring cleaning
Let’s be honest, there are some corners of our homes that don’t get enough of a clean in our hectic everyday lives. So it’s lucky that we’re now being forced to stay home in the spring when it’s time to do the spring cleaning anyway. So clean your oven and your fridge – and your shower fittings will probably need a clean too 😉 You’ve got plenty of time to get your home in shape.
Clear out your closet
Closets filled to bursting with clothes that we can barely wear at the moment since we’re meant to be leaving the house as little as possible. It’s time to have a good clear out and maybe give some clothes to those who don’t have as much as we do. Alternatively, you can always try getting some money for your things on selling sites of course. Then you can use the money you make to treat yourself to something else 🙂
Pick up the phone (and speak to people who are all alone right now)
The elderly are particularly vulnerable to loneliness in these difficult times. So it’s even nicer to keep in touch by phone or with a video call, making it a little easier to survive this period of isolation – not just for you but for the other person as well. After all, maintaining human contact is still possible from afar, and it’s welcomed too 🙂
Stay fit despite lockdown
From your temporary workstation to the couch and then to bed in the evening. That shouldn’t be the only activity you do all day. Just because the gyms are all shut and your running group isn’t allowed to meet, that doesn’t mean you can’t keep fit all the same. In one of our blog posts, we’ve put together a home workout with exercises that anyone can do at home. Alternatively, you are also allowed to head out for a walk or go for a run. Just make sure you keep a safe distance from other people. It’s also a great way to pass the time, and your body will thank you for it.
Write a post-corona bucket list
What do you miss most right now? Write it down and make a bucket list of things to do after coronavirus. Whether it’s a shopping trip with your best friend, pizza at your favorite Italian restaurant, or dancing the night away at your favorite club – write it down and do it as soon as it becomes possible again 🙂
Read a good book again
In our stressful everyday lives, we often simply don’t read enough good books. Perhaps you started one and haven’t managed to finish it yet. If so, you can make up for it now. And of course there are plenty more great books that are worth reading, too.
It may seem difficult at times, but fighting the coronavirus is actually really that easy. Stay home and observe strict hygiene rules. And with our tips for combating boredom in lockdown, it’s all a whole lot easier, don’t you think? 🙂
